Staff report:
As part of the Police Accountability, Equity and Human Services Action Plan endorsed by Council on August 10, 2020, the City Council endorsed a short-term objective to participate in equity training by August 31, 2020. This special meeting is called to provide City Council the opportunity to participate in such an equity training. In broad terms, this training will cover the history of systemic racism, impacts of systemic racism, implicit bias and how it impacts decision-making, and the value of using a racial equity tool in decision-making.
