0:00 I'll call the April 3rd City Council regular meeting to order. Would you please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance.
0:00 Our first special business is a public safety telecommunications week proclamation.
0:00 We typically have a much larger representation from our police department but they keep us safe out on the streets of our city.
0:00 When an emergency occurs, the safe actions of our professional police officers, firefighters, and paramedics are thanks to the fast responses of public safety telecommunications. These people are critical to protecting life and preserving property around the city.
0:00 I would not be standing here today without the work these professional individuals perform every single day. Congratulations to you all, as well as a large thank you from our city.
0:00 We move on to audience comments. This is an important part of the public process in our city.
0:00 You can provide your comments by coming on up to the lectern. State your name and your address, and try to keep your comments to a five minute period.
0:00 First, for the audience comments, we have Ken Eastman. Come on up to the lectern, Ken.
0:00 Hello, thank you for being here today. I reside at 2473 Northwest Stoney Creek Drive here in the city. I want to point out this eyesore we have been dealing with for over 16 months.
0:00 We have been patient as the city and engineering department work out a solution for our residents, however it has still been 16 months and we still have no plan or word on when this will be resolved.
0:00 What is the plan to stabilize this specific parcel? We ask the mayor, city council, and city administrator why this has not been completed. Thank you, I'll pass the mic to Mary Lynch.
0:00 My name is Mary Lynch and I reside at 2690 Northwest Oakcrest Drive. I want to points out another issue that also has not been addressed around here. We have a park up here for affordable housing being surrounded by equipment making it inaccessible for any children to play.
0:00 In addition, we would like more information on the Gateway roundabout. Residents in the area have not been consulted on the design and decision of this project.
0:01 We need to have a town meeting in order to receive input on how this roundabout would even affect our area. Currently we have little trust in the city and how they are and have been handling construction projects.
0:01 If no one else has signed up to speak, audience comments are closed. We move on to committee and regional reports from individual council members. Mariah Bettise, the stage is yours.
0:01 Thank you, mayor. I attended the Eastside Human Services Forum on March 22nd. You can read the immigrant and refugee task report provided at kingcounty.gov/equity and view their list of resources.
0:01 Thank you. Now, Bill Ramos. I was at the Emergency Management Advisory Council on March 8th and have nothing new or urgent to report today.
0:01 Now to councilmember Winterstein. Yes, so I will brief you on the Growth Management Policy Board happening in Seattle this coming Thursday.
0:01 Next is Tola Marts. I attended the Council Services and Safety special meeting on Friday morning with the governor. We learned a lot about how he and the city are planning for the city moving forward.
0:02 Next up is Eileen Barber. We had a large amount of items that were considered and reviewed under new business. These included evaluations and reviews of previous reports and project plans.
0:02 Finally, we have council president Goodman. The Land and Shore Committee will meet here in the city on Thursday at 6:30PM and we look forward to providing a further report soon.
0:02 I am proud to say we will have an Arbor Day tree planting happening this April 15th. I urge our residents to plant a tree to participate in this day. I have further proclaimed April 2017 to be sexual assault awareness month here in the city of Issaquah.
0:02 We move on to a public hearing of the capital budget policy. Now to Jen Olsen, our coordinator for council consideration. It's been established the storm water funds can be used with storm water activity and general construction purposes.
0:02 The public hearing on agenda bill 7306 is now closed. We move on to regular business. We have the anti-aircraft creek culvert replacement. Frank Reinert, public works engineering will provide a staff report on this.
0:02 Thank you all for letting me provide this report. This project has had several design changes that have caused some delays and issues across the project plan. The high creek water level had a history of flooding over the banks and onto Newport Way.
0:02 New replacement culverts will clear up any remaining alignment issues on this creek. This change to the regular project business is unanimously being proposed for consideration in the next regular meeting.
0:02 Seeing no further questions or comments, regular business is concluded for this evening and we are now adjourned here today.
